Generally, if there are quality problems with epoxy floor paint within six months after construction, in addition to the problems with the epoxy material itself, the ground condition of the construction substrate mainly includes unqualified concrete floor casting, improper repair treatment, and improper primer construction. In the process of dealing with problematic flooring multiple times, it was found that customers generally have a misunderstanding that since epoxy flooring is to be made, it is not related to the poor quality of concrete poured flooring; It doesn't matter if the quality of the concrete poured floor is slightly poor; However, concrete construction workers believe that it is not easy to receive a project, so they should follow the instructions for any flooring and simply cover it with paint. This will inevitably bring significant hidden dangers to the later use of epoxy floor paint
The following are the ground requirements for epoxy flooring construction:
The general requirements for concrete substrate in epoxy flooring are as follows:
In addition to complying with the national standard "Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Building Ground Engineering" (GB50209-2002), it is also necessary to follow the national standard GB50212-2002 "Code for Construction and Acceptance of Building Anti corrosion Engineering":
Concrete requires flatness and compactness, with a strength requirement of not less than C20; Poor strength will inevitably affect the pressure resistance, impact resistance, and durability of the coating;
The ground flatness generally requires a drop of no more than 2mm within a range of 2m (preferably smoothed and polished with a trowel); If the drop is large, the floor coating needs to be thickened to reduce the drop;
If the ground to be painted is at the bottom layer and the groundwater level is high, the concrete bottom layer should be well waterproofed to avoid the steam pressure formed by the rise of groundwater from lifting the floor coating and causing bubbling and peeling.
The concrete should be dried for at least three weeks with a moisture content not exceeding 8%; And during the curing and drying process, avoid local exposure to rain and surface water, otherwise it may cause excessive moisture content in the local concrete.
The strength of the fine aggregate concrete leveling layer on the floor slab, reinforced concrete beams, and segmented concrete should not be less than C20, and the thickness should not be less than 30mm.
When repairing damaged concrete surfaces, it should be carried out in accordance with the requirements of GB50212 national standard, namely: (1) when using fine aggregate concrete for leveling, the strength grade should not be less than C20 and the thickness should not be less than 30mm. (2) When the base layer must be leveled with cement mortar, a layer of concrete interface treatment agent should be applied first, and then leveled according to the design thickness.
(3) When the above operations are not suitable during the construction process, resin mortar or polymer cement mortar can be used for leveling.
Details such as the concrete around the downspout and threshold should be smooth, and the edges and corners should be straight. Large area concrete base should be cut with reasonable expansion joints according to the condition of the substrate, and left for treatment during floor coating. In order to maintain the beauty of the floor, the expansion joints should be concealed under the partitions as much as possible. If it is not possible, joints should be left during the construction of epoxy flooring, and then filled with elastic glue.
If the concrete base does not meet the requirements, resulting in the peeling and detachment of the floor paint coating due to the peeling of the concrete layer, the foaming of the floor coating due to the lack of waterproof treatment or inadequate waterproofing of the bottom layer, and the cracking of the floor coating caused by the serious unevenness of the substrate and unreasonable coating design (too thin), the floor construction party should not be responsible.
The ground condition has a great impact on the quality of the final epoxy flooring project. If the ground condition does not meet the requirements, it is difficult to do the epoxy project well, and phenomena such as peeling, detachment, and foaming often occur during the use of the epoxy flooring. Therefore, a good substrate is a prerequisite for ensuring the quality of the epoxy flooring project.
