In February 2012, Foxconn announced another pay rise for frontline employees and pledged to cut overtime hours. In March of the same year, the so-called "sweatshop controversy" surrounding Foxconn took a new turn, as the company was accused of dozens of labor rights violations.
On May 10, 2012, construction officially kicked off for Foxconn’s new mainland headquarters in the Lujiazui Financial District of Pudong, Shanghai.
