In epoxy floor construction, high-pressure airless spraying delivers a better surface finish than roller coating, featuring higher gloss and superior wear resistance. Almost no thinner is added to floor paint used for airless spraying.
During spraying, the spray gun shall be kept perpendicular to the surface of the workpiece, with a distance of 30–40 cm from the surface.
Move the spray gun evenly at a proper speed and keep it parallel to the floor surface to avoid coating accumulation and uneven film formation. Maintain the spraying distance and vertical angle by body posture; use body coordination to assist arm movement when moving the gun instead of twisting the wrist rigidly, while keeping the wrist flexible.
Each spraying pass shall overlap the previous one by about 20%–30% to form a complete and uniform coating film. When spraying corners, aim the spray gun at the center of the corner to ensure even coating on both sides.
Always pull the trigger to start spraying while moving the gun, and release the trigger to stop spraying also during movement. This avoids excessive paint accumulation on the surface.
With the same spray width, a larger nozzle orifice results in a thicker coating film.
With the same nozzle orifice, a wider spray width results in a thinner coating film.
The spraying pressure decreases as the flow rate increases. When the inlet compressed air pressure rises, both spraying pressure and flow rate increase correspondingly.
It is not advisable to simply increase spraying pressure. When spraying high-viscosity coatings, replace with a larger-caliber nozzle as needed.
