Causes and Solutions of Sanding on Epoxy Flooring

Many epoxy floors tend to experience surface sanding after being put into use for a period of time. This problem occurs in all kinds of places with epoxy flooring, such as factory workshops, parking lots, warehouses and other venues. It is quite common for factory floors to sand, because forklifts and other equipment frequently travel back and forth on the ground. Sharp objects may cause severe damage to the floor surface, eventually leading to sanding.

1. Excessive water-cement ratio during raw material proportioning

   This results in insufficient surface hardness of the floor.
2. Improper construction procedures

   Premature troweling and finishing will lead to inadequate hardness and wear resistance.

   Watering for curing before the cement floor is fully solidified will cause peeling, sanding and other defects.
4. Premature put-into-use

   If the floor is occupied and used before reaching the standard hardness, sanding is highly likely to occur.
5. Frost damage of concrete

   Frozen concrete will expand and cannot shrink back when the temperature rises, leaving enlarged internal pores. The ground will start to sand once subjected to friction.
6. Unqualified raw materials

   Substandard raw materials, such as an unreasonable ratio of sand to cement, will weaken the bonding force between cement and sand, resulting in floor sanding.
7. Unsuitable construction environment

   Similar to concrete frost damage, floor construction in winter without effective heating measures will also cause sanding problems.

1. Base surface treatment

   For any floor renovation, thorough base treatment is the first step. Remove all oil stains completely before construction. For floors with cracks and pits, cut V-shaped grooves and use grinders to level and compact the surface until it meets construction standards.
2. Hardening treatment with concrete sealing curing agent

   Construction process: Base cleaning → Grinding → Spraying concrete sealing curing agent → Surface washing → Preliminary polishing → Full polishing
