Specific Precautions During Epoxy Flooring Construction

Epoxy flooring is increasingly favored by people for its environmental performance, excellent dust resistance and easy-to-clean properties, gradually becoming the first choice for floor construction. However, not all factories and workshops are suitable for immediate epoxy flooring construction. Environmental factors such as workshop dust, temperature, and pH value have a great impact on the construction of epoxy flooring.

The first priority is to solve the dust problem. If dust is not properly controlled, excessive impurities will mix into the floor coating, causing various defects after completion, such as surface bubbles, cracking, peeling, shelling and rough texture. Secondly, temperature control must be emphasized. The reaction temperature of amine curing agents in epoxy floor paint should be above 5℃. If the temperature is lower than this standard, condensation will easily form on the base surface, reducing the adhesion of the coating film, resulting in surface defects and weakening the decorative effect of the epoxy floor. In addition, it is necessary to control the pH value of the working environment and the flatness of the base layer.

Epoxy floor coatings contain a variety of volatile substances, which are greatly harmful to the human body. Therefore, proper ventilation and supporting facility conditions must be ensured throughout the construction process.

Traditional solvent-based epoxy floor paint films have extremely poor air permeability. If the base layer humidity is too high, the floor is prone to blistering and peeling. Hence, ventilation is particularly critical for epoxy flooring construction.

Residual solvents in the floor paint film are hydrophilic and incompatible with the dried coating film. If they remain on the epoxy floor for a long time, surface bubbles will easily occur. Therefore, timely cleaning after construction is essential to ensure the perfect application performance of the epoxy floor.
