How to Prevent Rough Surface on Epoxy Flooring

Many epoxy floors, especially those in factories, tend to become rough after a period of use. Most factory workshops are leased, and when the tenant changes, the production types differ, resulting in different floor usage requirements and varying degrees of floor damage. So how exactly can we prevent the floor from becoming rough?

First, pay attention to daily protection during use. For example, it is advisable to change shoes before stepping onto the epoxy floor. This avoids scratches and impact from hard shoe soles, and more importantly, prevents sand and sediment carried on footwear from remaining on the floor. Sand particles will cause friction over time and gradually make the surface rough.

Second, keep the floor clean at all times. A regularly maintained floor delivers a neat and attractive appearance, with a smooth and bright surface that is visually pleasant. Meanwhile, proper daily cleaning protects the floor from contamination damage. Especially for chemical enterprises, any chemical residues left on the floor will cause severe corrosion if not cleaned up promptly.

Third, strictly control every construction procedure. Daily maintenance alone cannot fundamentally solve the problem; prevention must start from the initial floor construction. It is crucial to follow the accurate mixing ratio of epoxy floor materials and coatings, and control the dosage of thinner reasonably according to the construction progress.

Overall, the construction site must be thoroughly cleaned before starting work, and uneven base surfaces need to be leveled. After the intermediate coating is completed, inspect the previous working procedures carefully. Any defects must be repaired in a timely manner. Only keep the surface completely clean before applying the topcoat. If the topcoat is applied directly over dusty intermediate layers, the finished floor will easily turn rough.
